The Crooked Road
- (The Crooked Road Website)
Crossing the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwest Virginia is The Crooked Road, also known as "Virginia's Heritage Music Trail" connecting the Piedmont with the Cumberland Mountains along its 253 mile route. The Crooked Road partially follows along U.S. Highway 58 from east to west through the "birthplace" of traditional mountain music in southwest Virginia. It is along this route, where it crosses Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains at their highest peaks, the term "The Crooked Road" originated.
